Day 82 - Feeling the love | Day 2 - beard test control week

Very quiet day at work, was just me and my own in the office doing the job of 3 people. But once it went quiet I cracked some Vice documentary. Watched the worlds scariest debt collector, and yeah he's pretty scary!

Got our bassist coming up from London again this weekend, we've promised ourselves that we will not go out! Up early tomorrow to view some houses and then up early again for band practise. Next week we're in the studio, but we're not sure how much we can do with Jonny and his hand.

The EP got released last night and we are really feeling the love from everyone. We've had nothing but good comments, and over 200 plays in just under 24 hours. It's not even on Spotify and iTunes yet!

So the beard again is looking kinda shitty again, here's the photo for today:

Because I'm in different lights every time I take the photo it looks different. So if this week is the control week, I'll make the rest of it vitamin B and different kind of food and see if it grows.

Day 81 - EP Release day! | Day 1 - Beard test

Today is the day my band release our debut EP, really excited about it and really happy we finally finished it. Had a little listen through last night and I'm really proud of us all. Hopefully should be on iTunes and Spotify in a few days as well.
However, our guitars closed a door on his hand this morning, which is typical when we have 1 final outro track left to finish off. If it is broken then it could be a long wait for it to get better, but hopefully he can battle on with the one remaining hand and get it sorted. If not then I'm going to have to assign myself as chief clicker of Pro Tools! But last night our drummer knocked up some great artwork for the EP.

So the idea was a light bulb being filled up with whiskey. I'll go into detail about the name and "why this image" soon. But we obviously couldn't use an actual working bulb and pour whiskey into, in fact we couldn't even use whiskey because it's too damn expensive and the light brown of whiskey is very hard to get the full colour in a photograph. So we took 2 pictures of a bulb, both on and off. For the on effect and off for the outline of the bulb, and then we flipped the image on Photoshop. The liquid going into the bulb is actually watered down blue dye, blue is a good colour to capture and we did the rest with some Photoshop magic. I have to admit it is a really nice photo and I think it sits really well with the meaning being the name of the EP.

So, the name. "It's Not The Law, It's Just A Good Idea". It has a few different meanings being it. The first that came to mind was that a lot of bands now a days are put together purely for money reasons, I won't name any names but I'm sure you can think of a few in that One Direction...Most bands on reality shows get put together for another person to make money, and in my opinion you're not an artist if you're in it for the money, but don't get me wrong the money is a nice bonus. But we saw that as "the law", these bands HAVE to go on stage and record songs somebody else has wrote. We're doing the opposite to that, we're not doing it for the money and we write our own material because it's just a "good idea". Nobody told us to do it, we just did it because we enjoy doing what we do. This is why we picked the light bulb, its a really good idea, and "the law" of physics is keeping that light bulb lite up. The whiskey...when is whiskey ever a bad idea?!

It's day 1 of the beard test, I really need to wait for all the vitamins to arrive before I start it really, but I guess this week can be the control week to see if it actually grows on its on, I wouldn't expect much though. So here a picture for today.

Still looking pretty crappy but hopefully it will start to fill out

Day 80 - Another challenge

Okay, so I know my blogs are getting a little dry on the content and anyone who reads it must be getting fed up of the same old "work was boring", "I like food" phrases. However, I'm setting myself another little 30 day challenge within the one year of blogging challenge. So here it is:

I find beards amazing, everything from long ass beards to a bit of stubble, if there is hair on your face you're an amazing human being. But I was given the face that can hardly grow a beard, I can get a bit of coverage but it will take my way to long to grow the full beard I have been willing for, for so many years, so here's the challenge/test. I am going to research into foods/pills/techniques I can take into growing my beard. Once I've found a few I can use I'm going to set myself 30 days and see if the beard actually grows.

So here is my current beard situation. Very poor i know, not the coverage I really want, this is probably about a month or so of growth. So hopefully with a few tips and tricks I find online I can promote some beard growth on my little baby face haha.

The main thing I'm hearing on the internet is to take vitamins, which I very rarely do. Apparently vitamin B is a big one! So firstly I am going to buy some vitamin tablets and take them for the entire course of the challenge along with some different foods and liquids that are available. Also heard that biotin can really help, but must be ingested. I'm going to order the pills online and wait around a week to start them. For this week I'm going to start with foods and other things.

Glad nobody is in the office while I blog with a picture of my crappy beard on the screen. That would certainly take some explaining. I best get on with some work and think some manly thoughts to get some beard growth going on. Wish me luck!

Day 79 - I don't like being ill

I've not had a day like this for a long time. Actually got told I should leave work but I battled on and it was probably the worst idea ever. I feel drained completely, I really think last weekend took it out of me. I normally spend weekends sleeping but I've just had none of it.

Bought some nice food on the way home to perk myself up a bit, hopefully that will work nicely. Planning on making food and passing out infront of some crappy tv. Well actually I downloaded the first season of Community and I'm going to start watching that tonight.

For saying I've been ill all day it's actually be an okay day at work, had plenty to take my mind off it, even though secretly I wanted to go home and sleep haha. I think food and sleep will certainly sort me out for tomorrow morning, I really don't like missing days at work. For some reason something always happens and I end up missing something massive. I did get the office to myself for the last hour so I just caught up on the Shaytards.

Well I'm officially calling it food time, here's hoping it sorts me out.

Day 78 - Ready for bed

It has been a crazy weekend with very little sleep and a day of work has really taken it out of me. So I'm getting into bed nice and early with some good TV. That's if my internet keeps up.

Has been a great weekend though, hopefully next weekend isn't as crazy. We have a few house viewings round Huddersfield and should hopefully be getting a new house sorted which I'm really excited about!

Day 77 - Hungover and hungry

So the old "go for a few drinks" line came out last night and we ended up getting in at five in the morning, and we knew full well that we were up in four hours for band practise. So that was fun. Again, nice productive practise though.

Stupidly tired so I'm keeping this short, I need KFC and sleep!

Saturday, 25 January 2014

Day 76 - Epic practise

Got up early which was surprisingly easy. I got up at 9AM and it actually felt like a lie in...wow. But yeah, we got in, knuckled down and nailed these new songs, really was a very productive practise. Very pleased with everyones work. We all got a little excited and now we've hit the beers and we're planning on going into town. It'll be a hungover practise tomorrow for sure, no doubt we'll end up late for practise haha. First time today actually we were all on time. Also stick to my resolution today and wore earplugs!

We have this obsession in our house that we play Eddie Murphy - Party All The Time, it strangely gets us all in the mood to party haha. Anyway it's time for me to have some beers and listen to some strange music. Good day!

Friday, 24 January 2014

Day 75 - All hail Friday

Going to have to make this one a little one, it has been a crazy day at work. Finally finished everything up for the day and this is the only little space I have to write a blog today. Got a friend coming up from London to see us and then we have band practise all weekend. I have no idea what I'm going to do over the weekend but I'm sure we'll work something out.

Actually arranged to see some old friends in Leeds for a few drinks on Satuday, and it really will be a fun-filled weekend packed with friends. I really wouldn't have it any other way.

Doing a little bit of recording tonight for our EP, got some tasty licks I have to record over one of our songs, then it's ready to be mixed. Hopefully should be out within the next few weeks. Also got our advert being published next weekend in Stencil Magazine. Really looking forward to seeing that and sending it to everyone I have ever met haha.

Well then, I guess I best leave this office and get on a train home. It's going to be a fun weekend I'm sure. Everyone have a good one whatever you might be doing!

Thursday, 23 January 2014

Day 74 - Busy weekend

Got a busy weekend coming up. Got practise both Saturday and Sunday and a band mate/brother coming up from London. Hopefully we will be able to stay in and enjoy a few beers and films but knowing us something will happen that we don't plan for haha.

Going for pasta tonight, the cheapest meal ever. I'm not complaining I do enjoy the whole making of the sauce and cooking process behind pasta. I lead such an exciting life I know.

Got some interesting work today, actually starting to get a few projects to mess around with so I can actually get some decent experience.

Started to snow today which made me really not enjoy my journey home, it was packed and it was cold. Did not like!

Booking equipment out tomorrow for practise for the first time on my own, I hope I name all the microphones right haha, so many names!

Wednesday, 22 January 2014

Day 73 - Easy day

Here I am again for day 73. It is really getting hard for things to write about now, I'm sure if anyone reads this they'll be fed up of hearing about how boring my day was. Even though it was a boring day it was pretty productive I think for the first time In a long time I managed to keep up with everything and get everything uploaded on time which is a bonus. Got a few important meetings tomorrow and Friday though so I'm sure the work will start to stack back up again by the time I get in.

I read today that Tarantino has dropped a film script he has written called the Hateful Eight, the name alone sounds like an epic movie he would write. Apparently he script was "leaked". Not sure if I wanna browse the internet, find it and read it. I don't wanna spoil the film just in case he makes it. It's a strange place the internet, none of this would of happened before but nobody can live without it anymore, me included. First of all I'd be out of a job and I wouldn't have anything to do when I'm bored haha. But it can be a dark place at times.

Think I'm going to have to stick to some boring food tonight until the weekend. Speaking of weekends we have block booked the practise rooms and we're going to nail some new songs in time for the studio in a few weeks, maybe even get a gig booked to try out the new material. I'll be happy when this EP is out, it's been so long since we recorded it and it is so close to being finished. Really need to start thinking of some artwork for it as well. It is all slowly coming together though which makes me happy, also means we have some band weekends together which I really enjoy.

Tuesday, 21 January 2014

Day 72 - Nearly at 100 days!

I can't believe I'm actually really close to 100 days of blogging, I'm pretty proud of myself to be honest. I use to be the kind of guy that would start something and never finish it, but it seems like the tables have turned. It was similar when reading a book, but now all of a sudden I can stick to it and really knuckle down, am I actually growing up? Haha.

Cut my festival bands off yesterday night after 4 long years. They held some great memories which I'll never forgot. Seen some amazing bands and had some great times with friends. It won't be stopping there though, with Glastonbury this year I think this will be the festival of festivals. Going with some real close friends and no doubt it will be filled with all sorts of antics haha.

Guess what? I had a boring day at work, but that's just another day, I do have to keep on going till the end. Today I got given admin rates to control the twitter account for the campus which is pretty cool, first thing I did was follow Patrick Stewart.

It's getting stupidly cold outside and getting really hard to get up on a morning. Set 3 alarms last night to get up this morning and that was a real task. Hopefully it'll be easier tomorrow because I get an extra 30 minutes in bed. Really need to get season two of Game of Thrones so I have something to watch on a night. The Office is getting really boring now

Monday, 20 January 2014

Day 71 - I didn't forget today!

Just when I thought I was getting into the swing of things I end up forgetting to blog. I guess it was Sunday haha, but I said I was going to do this every day so I am!

I was actually dreding my day at work today with it being Monday and really cold, but it turned out okay in the end, got to leave on time for once. Although I'm in at 8 tomorrow which is not fun when you live an hour away from work. Anyway, gotta get these next few months out the way and it'll all be over when I can become a lazy student again. Been looking at some places in Huddersfield so in the next few months I'll be closer to work. More time in bed woo! Haha.

After this I think a chill night is in order, I got in and cleaned the house like the good house wife I am (Baker Street just came on shuffle, boom! Air sax time) I cleaned the bathroom so much it smells like a swimming baths. Think I'll enjoy how clean it is with a bath tonight before I'm up at stupid o clock.

Managed to get US netflix on my laptop so I've been watching the final season of The Office. I love it and all but it's nothing compared to the UK one. The first season of the US one was a really well made piece of television but now it's like your average sitcom, still funny but they're pushing it way to much now.

Speaking of laptops, my laptop of 4 years has finally given up and gone into old man mode and is starting to shut down. So next week and I'm going to upgrade and get myself a new one. Seen a beauty in town today that I really want to buy. 1TB HDD, 8GB RAM, Quad Core, I think that will last me for a while. Now I use spotify for all my music I don't really need a massive bulk of memory to store my music and I use netflix for movies and tv. I honestly would not stop paying to use them services they're amazing.

Food time, going to see what I have in my feezer and cook it all!

Sunday, 19 January 2014

Day 70 - Forgot!

I woke up to a text at 2AM telling me I've not blogged today, I jump out of bed and start typing haha.

Been a pretty boring day anyway really, watched a new tv show called The Spoils of Babylon with Will Ferrell, very strange program haha. It's like a look back on a story of a another story. It's ment to be a comedy but it's not been that funny for the first episode, but I'm going to stick to it and maybe it will pick up.

Anyway, back to bed. Up early tomorrow. It's Monday morning again and I have meetings coming out of my ears always, weekend soon...? Please?

Saturday, 18 January 2014

Day 69 - Everyone see The Wolf of Wall Street

It was a great film, I'm sure it'll win loads of awards in the coming months. It was a very different role for Jonah Hill to play, but he played it really well and it was a good character. The film itself was sort of what I expected but the ending I wasn't expecting. But all in all it was a great film and I'd definitely see it again.

Today has been a quiet day, spent most of it playing xbox and watching Ed Edd and Eddy on netflix. That will probably continue until I fall asleep haha.

Friday, 17 January 2014

Day 68 - Weekend! Film time.

Going to do this blog post nice and early so I can enjoy my lovely Friday night. Booked tickets to see The Wolf of Wall Street, heard good things about it so hopefully we'll have a good time. Even paid a little extra so we can have the posh seats at the cinema, win! Not normally a film I would see at the cinema, I'd normally wait for it to come out on DVD or whatever and watch it then, but I've become a big fan of Leonardo DiCaprio over the coming months. I remember watching Shutter Island for the first time and just being blown away, and it just got better with Inception and Django Unchained. The Great Gatsby is a great film as well, I even read the book before watching it too.

I understand that I'm on a placement year in University now but I really can't stand being treated like a glorified tea-boy, I just seem to be doing odd jobs for everyone else in this office sometimes. I want to get given a project or something that I can work on for a while instead of just sitting here typing and stapling. It isn't fun at all. Like today I had to staple a flyer to everyones paycheck on campus, that's like 1,800 paychecks to staple and it killed me back from sitting up and doing them all. I didn't apply for this job to be taken advantage of, the whole point of it is to help me learn and experience the world of work, and if this is what it's like then I'm clearly not ready and will not be ready for a long time.

Anyway, I'm going to get this day out of the way and enjoy my weekend. I plan on seeing a great film, spending some time with some great people playing some great games on xbox and drinking some great beer. What more could I possibly need?!

Have a good weekend everyone

Day 67 - How do you make a day go faster?

I'm trying everything to try and make this day go faster but nothing is working. Currently got a sticky note over the clock in the corner of my computer screen, but I just can't stop peaking at it. Think the longest I have been without looking is about 10 minutes haha. Also tried doing work but that is getting me nowhere.

Blogging at work for a change so I can use a computer rather than my phone. I get a big lazy when I'm on my phone and write really short posts, but I find when I'm sat at a computer I can waffle a little more than normal. I did get a little fed up of typing over the past few days after finishing off my first assignment for the year, 3,000 words of talking about the place I work at, very exciting.

Just been for a little nosey around the new building and it is looking really good. I'm not much of a gym guy but it is looking really good, and its full of all sorts of high techs stuff. SU is looking nice as well even though it's bar-less now, it's still a nice seated area for students

I've been looking at prices for saxophones all day today, I'm seriously considering taking up another instrument. And I think a saxophone is right up my street.

Wednesday, 15 January 2014

Day 66 - Ed, Edd and Eddy

Managed to get on US Netflix today and literally just got in from work and put on some Ed Edd and Eddy and I'm not planning on stopping till I fall asleep haha.

Another boring day at work, long as always.

Our new single is being released tonight, and I've just heard the final mix, I am stupidly excited to get it out to everyone tonight. Getting some artwork sorted as well so we can put it on iTunes and spotify. It's all coming together nicely!

Tuesday, 14 January 2014

Day 65 - How am I only just getting into this sick TV show?!

Started watching Game of Thrones the other week and it is so good, I don't know how I've gone this long without watching it. I'm on the last episode of the 1st season tonight, really looking forward to watching it. I've seen some crazy things on it haha, and I'm sure they'll only get more crazy.
Thinking of starting Sons of Anarchy soon as well, that looks like a good show as well.

Currently watching Sherlock and I'm quickly writing this while we take a little break. This has been yet another epic season.

Pretty slow day at work with loads of work as always, I've started covering up the clock at work on my computer so that the day goes faster, isn't very useful when you have meetings all day though haha.

Monday, 13 January 2014

Day 64 - The Wolf of Wall Street

Booked tickets today to see The Wolf of Wall Street on Friday. Really excited to see it, I watched the trailer again today and it still looks really good haha. Also remember watching the new Godzilla trailer at the cinema and that looks even more amazing, I will certainly be seeing that! Good to see Bryan Cranston going up and up after his outstanding performance in Breaking Bad.

Horrible day at work, normally one part of the day is bad but all day it has been bad. I understand I'm on a placement, but being tried like a kid on a placement I am not a fan of. Anyway, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Probably best if I just smile and get on with I'm doing.

Got told today that another track of ours is nearly ready to be released, very exited about that. Been looking forward to getting another track out to everyone, it's been a while since we released one.

Sunday, 12 January 2014

Day 63 - huuuuungover

Wow I've not had a hangover like this in a long time, man I must be getting old.

Gonna make this a very short one, my head flipping kills and I need some sleep before the long ass Monday tomorrow. Not looking forward to it at all.

Saturday, 11 January 2014

Day 62 - We've failed!

So yesterday we managed it fine. We didn't go out on the second weekend of January. But we've just hit Saturday, we're bored sat playing xbox and we don't know what to do, one thing let to another and we're now getting ready to go out. Oh dear, oh dear oh dear! I don't even know how to happened, it just happened. We promised we'll have a dry weekend in Febuary just to make up for this failure of a weekend haha.

But other than that, that is all I've done today. Got up early and went into the city to find Metal Gear Solid and nowhere sells PS1 games anymore, what happened?! Now I can only buy them online, some classic titles as well are still pretty pricey. One day I'll get back on Metal Gear Solid haha.

Traveling to Huddersfield tomorrow to finish off some work for Monday, not impressed about having to come in on a Sunday but I so get to see my girlfriend after! Yaaaay!

Friday, 10 January 2014

Day 61 - Lovely lovely Friday

I predicted wrong, today was the stupidly busy like Monday and Tuesday. The new building opens on Monday and nothing is ready at all, so everyone has been rushing around trying to get everything sorted, even a possibility of me going on a Sunday for an hour to sort some final things out for the site. I know, working on the Sabbath, guess I'll have to skip church this Sunday...

Bit of a dilemma when I got home, one of my house mates is not drinking for a month but the other is just stopping nights out for a month. So do I go to the shop and still get some beers for the weekend or do I stand strong and stop drinking all together? Nope. I got beer. This will now be the 2nd weekend of not going out which is a new record for this house haha.

We're all staying in though of course, we're having a film night and watching Forrest Gump. I know such a manly film haha. I've not seen it in a while so I suggested it everyone. Then I think once I'm in bed nice and early I'll watch Goon. Another great film I've not watched in a while. That should earn me back some man points.

It's lovely loan day on Monday, then it will really be hard not to go out once that is in, but I'm going to play it safe and save money, right now that is certainly the best option.

Thursday, 9 January 2014

Day 60 - PS2 weekend

Decided today I'm going to sort of my PS2 out this weekend and I'm going to buy MGS1. So this weekend I'm going old school haha.

Been a very different day today at work, all I did all day was watch Vice documentaries. Watched the real life Walter White, as though I admit he is rather bad ass for cooking meth without his family knowing but he is no where near as badass as the Walter White from Breaking Bad. Really looking forward to the spin with Sual, heard they'll be a few apperances from Jesse and Walt, which will be sick.

Going to make this a short one, got Dragonball Z waiting for me on the Xbox, I know, what a geek haha.

Wednesday, 8 January 2014

Day 59 - I miss childhood

Just got in from work and I'm watching my house mate play Dragonball Z, man I miss watching that as a kid. I'm seriously considering downloading some to watch, but I have way to much to catch up on alresdy. I have Game of Thrones to watch and Sherlock tonight, so it will have to wait. It's weird I actually really look forward to getting into bed and watching tv, I never use to a be like that. And after tv I always have to stick my headphones in and listen to some of The Ricky Gervias Show and end up falling asleep to it, literally been doing that for months now.

I'd like to say it's the final day of being busy at work but it probably won't be, usually Thursdays and Fridays are easy but I know now I've said that it'll now be super busy.

I've had it pointed out to me that I make a fair few mistakes when I'm writing these blogs, I don't really proof read them because I do them everyday and when I'm on my phone I get lazy and let auto correct do the work most of the time. But I've come up with a late New Years resolution to try and help me with it, I'm going to try read a book and month to see if that will helps me with it, also posting everyday should eventually help me. The first book I'm going to start reading is Catcher In The Rye, I heard about it awhile a go and thought nothing of it, then I saw an episode of South Park were they mentioned it, so I thought I'd give it a go. Not sure what to go for next, so any suggestions would be great.

Time for a big ass pizza and some Sherlock I think now, then it'll be able to get into a comfy ass bed and watch some kick ass tv. How many times can I say ass in a sentence?

Tuesday, 7 January 2014

Day 58 - Wow it's getting busy

Really busy day at work today, literally been non stop from 9 til 6. But it did make the day really fast. Hopefully tomorrow will be the same and then I'll have a nice easy Thursday and Friday. Shaping up to be a quiet weekend as well, with no going out. Yup, the second weekend of not going out, I did have a little look through some old photos today which really wanted me to go out this Friday, but nope, I'm going to stay in and save money. My day was made longer by train travel, got on my first train home and the doors broke so I was sat in Huddersfield Station for another 20 minutes.

Going to be booking tickets to see The Wolf Of Wall Street next Friday which I'm really excited about. No often I get excited to see a film, but after seeing the trailers for it, it is looking to be a really awesome film. Read a few reviews of it and they all say it's good so hopefully it'll be a good one. If I'm booking tickets also means I can get awesome comfy seats as well. No forgetting the Ice Blasts, I'm going to be all over that next Friday haha.

Was in a meeting this afternoon talking about social media. So we got talking about Facebook and Twitter, but it hit me how amazing these sites actually are. People complain all the time that Facebook is rubbish, but to be honest, it is more about the people that use them. Because Facebook is a great tool for creating events, staying in contact with people and promoting stuff for business and bands. Facebook and Twitter are both such simple sites with massive potential for both themselves and the people that use them. If you really don't like a social media site that much don't use it, and anyone that complains is just a nosey person who wants to check up on people. Also there are loads of different social media sites out there. Instagram, which again I'm a big fan of, is another unique tool to use. Why complain about people posting pictures of food, it is was it is for, and people love food!
Feel like I've ranted about that, was that a rant? I don't even care haha. I've recently got into Vine, it's not been around long but already a community has started on Vine. I've not really posted any vines, but some people have really dominated Vine with funny or really clever 7 second videos. If you've not used it before go check it out.

Hopefully another busy day with edits and meetings and then I'll be back here again blogging about it. Also feel like I repeat myself too much in this blog, but my life is honestly on repeat during the week because of work. But I know if I didn't have this job my life would be: wake up, watch netflix, sleep. Which to be honest sounds amazing right now but would send me crazy in the long run. So here's to work and keeping me "sane"

Day 57 - Christmas is over

Even though I was back at work a while ago more people will have been back to work today being the first Monday of the year, I could really tell as well. The train was packed this morning on my way to work and everyone was silent and looking even more tired than before. I really thought after a nice long break I'd be back and ready to get back at it but I'm really not. I'm probably just in this frame of mind because it's a Monday, and I guess it only gets better as the week draws in.

Last night I got a stupid amount of sleep and I still woke up tired, and I think after the many months of going out every weekend it'll be a long time until I actually get my sleeping pattern properly sorted, but no doubt we'll end up going out and it'll mess it all up again. Usually when I go home it sorts it right out, but what with all the travelling to see family and going out with friends I didn't do myself much good, but this month of staying in should hopefully sort me out.

It is getting seriously busy at work now what with the new building opening next week, I need to do a lot of work with the University site to get all that up to date. Working in the most unorganised place in the world doesn't help, especially when nobody communicates between departments, so things either don't get done at all, or something gets done twice and two departments literally have to go to war to get that one thing done.

That's enough about work, I wish I could tell you some awesome stories about being at home but I have none right now. During the week especially, it is literally: get up, go to work, come home, food and then bed ready to do it all again. I always said I didn't want a lifestyle and job were it would be the same thing day in and day out. But I guess I have to start somewhere, I'm still young and I'm sure lots more opportunities will show up over time.

I don't think I've ever wrote in my blog about what I eventually would love to do, but ultimately I want to perform music and make a living out of it. It's a big dream and it will take a lot of work. But that hard work and commitment will pay off for me. Of course it is one of the hardest industries to get into. I think with the right attitude I can hopefully make it, I like to think of myself as always looking on the bright side of life and not dwelling on any past events, or letting someones negative comment get me down. I admit I have times I think "why am I doing this?". We're all human and we all think like that, but I think with the right mind you can achieve anything you want.

I'll keep on saying that to myself anyway.

Day 56 - Do not want Monday.

I don't want Sunday to end. Monday is around the corner and I don't think I can handle the Monday morning feeling right now. Today was pretty sick, got the band together nailed some songs and had some laughs.

Got some pasta on, I know epic meal for me tonight...been a crazy weekend for food for a change with takeaways and nachoes so it's time to get back to boring food. Making cheese and broccoli pasta, it does smell beautiful to be fair.

Well I'm leaving this a short one, I'm gonna watch some Sherlock and enjoy the last few hours of my weekend before a really busy week of work. Boo.

Day 55 - Nacho night

Went to Asda today and bought a stupid amount of nachos and cheese, and we're all say here watching crappy TV and eating loads of them haha. Gone for some Adventure time to start with then we're going to get heavy and watch a documentary on space, might even crack on a vinyl as well, what a strange mix of things we're doing tonight haha. Guess it's cheap than going out.

Up early tomorrow and we have to make our way to Huddersfield for band practise, not looking forward to the early morning but am looking forward to playing some loud music, and I'll certainly have my ear plugs in to keep to my resolution.

Literally done nothing else today other than eat and restring my guitar, you really cannot beat the feel of fresh strings on a guitar.

I can't think of anything else that happened in my boring day, am sure tomorrow will bring more wonders...

Day 54 - Weekend already. Yay.

It's the first day back in the house with everyone, got Andy coming up from London, and I'm sat on the sofa about to slip into a food coma after too much Chinese food. The best Friday, ever!

Yeah Andy is coming up from the London and we're going to have a few hours band practise over the weekend. Trying to nail these new songs ready for the studio next weekend.

Wow I'm really tired, these mornings are killing me again. Maybe now I'll start getting use them. I don't think this weekend is going to help me either, even though I won't be going out at all.

I'm determined to wear ear buds tomorrow for practise, it's going to get loud like it always does haha.

Day 53 - First day back at work.

Man it was hard to get up this morning. I thought after a few days of maximum sleep and relaxing that I'd get up nice and easy this morning, but no. It was a killer morning. Even though it was a difficult morning actually had an alright first day back, it's a new year with lots of new work with a new building opening up on campus, so more work for me to look after. Keeps me busy and makes my day go faster.

Keep thinking it's a Monday today but it's not and the weekend is only around the corner. Got the band over for the weekend and we're practising new songs ready for the studio next weekend. Plenty of laughs and subway I'm guessing.

For money and charity reasons we're doing the dryathlon this month. It's going to be difficult, but it means we all save some money and we can afford a deposit for a new house next year. We have started looking for some new places in Huddersfield and we want to get it sorted sooner rather than later so we can move straight from one house to the next. It'll be good to get back to Huddersfield and be in walking distance of work and uni and not have to get on a train. Nothing bad about living at Leeds at all but getting on a train every morning is horrible after a while.

Wish me luck for the weekend

Day 52 - Happy New year, back to reality

It's now officially 2014, guessing everyone has been "hitting" the gym and really looking forward to going back to work. Because I sure am...

Well I thought I'd share with you some of my resolutions for the year. I think to many peoples resolutions are to change themselves, and not advance themselves as people. Yeah you can stay healthy, and go to the gym but don't do it for other people.

The first one that came to mind is a little different to everyone else's I'd imagine but I want to protect my ears more, I play and go to gigs, record in a studio and have my headphones on full blast all the and it really is not good for me, so I'm going to start protecting them more because. Think I'm going to buy a nice expensive pair of ear buds for gigs. I know it seems weird me wearing ear plugs at gigs, but you can still hear everything at a gig with ear plugs in but you don't get the harsh noises hitting your ear drums full on. So there is number 1.

Secondly I want to practise guitar more, at least 7 hours a week, just an hour a day after work, working on scales mainly, I don't want to slip away from my instrument like so many other people have. I hopefully one day want to make my living from something I love doing, so the only way I can do that is to practise practise practise.

My third and last is to keep on doing what I did last year and stay confident in myself and not shy away from anything. One thing I noticed last year after loads of placement interviews I started to open up more and more. Now I actually have a placement and have to go to meetings everyday with different people and speak my opinion or help people out it has helped me massively as a person, so I really want to keep up that mentality.

There you have it!

I hope everyone else has a great Christmas and had a great New Year. I have a feeling it is going to be a good year, and I hope everyone else the same.
