The hangovers gone. Great mood, work has gone totally fine all day. But the world did get some sad news about one of the greatest British comedians. RIP Rik Mayall.
Woke up before my alarm in a great mood, even though I got a terrible nights sleep. Got the earlier train and got into work nice and early ready for the day. I knew I had a bit of a pitch lined up to show another department some website changes. The pitch was generally to see if they can approve all the changes in the code that I am planning on making. I won't bore you with the details, but I came out on top and they really liked my ideas. Which of course added to my great mood.
I actually thought when I woke up, if I can stay positive through out the day, I can properly focus on this pitch it'll all be fine. And it really worked. I think more often I'm going to try and wake up as soon as I actually wake up. I just found myself in a much more happy place overall. Definitely something to think about, if I have a big meeting planned for that day.
Of course something came up which put me back to normal, what with the powers of the internet, news really travels fast. Looking down at my phone I saw the BBC News notification pop up and some very sad news indeed. It really hit me, I grew up watching a lot of comedy shows with Rik Mayall in, what with my family being fans of the show. I know a kid watching shows like that is mental, but the whole slapstick element he injected into shows could make anybody of any age laugh. Then of course I actually re-watched a lot of shows when I was older and found them even more funny. A personal favourite show has to be The Young Ones, what with my age now and being away from home in some questionable student houses, I can relate ever so slightly to it. Just watching all the tweet and Facebook posts roll in does make me happy that he made a big impact on people. Now I'm going to go home and watch as much Bottom, Young Ones and Blackadder as possble.
Here is his only tweet.
RIP
